Rare Bird Scout — Privacy Policy

Rare Bird Scout is a subscription service that hunts rare, specific things for you. It has two parts: the website and vault at scout.tackos.ai, and a Chrome extension that senses marketplaces from your own browser.

What we collect

Account: your email address, plan and billing status (payments are processed by Stripe; we never see card numbers), the ZIP code and radius you optionally set, your hunting targets and preferences, and the extension settings you choose.

Captures: when the extension sweeps a search you enabled, it stores public listing content — title, price, location, listing date, description, photos — in your private vault. The seller section of every page is removed before anything leaves the page; we do not store seller names, profiles, or contact details.

Judgments: our identification of each capture, your outcomes (bird, not a bird, contacted, and so on), your notes and corrections.

Devices: a name for each browser you pair (for example "Mac Chrome") and when it last swept.

What we do not collect

Your browsing history, cookies, messages, passwords, or any page outside the marketplace pages your sweep visits. The extension cannot post, message, like, comment, or buy.

How we use it

To identify listings for you, alert you, and organize your hunt. Your captures are private to your account: never pooled with other users, never shared, never sold, never published. What we learn across users is knowledge about models — hunt books, identification tells, rarity — from your explicit corrections, never your captured listings.

Who processes it

Our own servers hold your vault. Listing text and photos are sent to Anthropic's API for identification under our account and are not used to train models. Push notifications go through our own ntfy server on a topic private to you; on iOS the message id transits Apple's push service. Sign-in links are emailed from scout@tackos.ai.

Your control

Export your entire vault as one file from Profile at any time. Revoke any paired browser from Setup. Email scout@tackos.ai to close your account; the account, vault, captures and photos are deleted.

Material changes appear at this URL with a new effective date.
